Spotlight: Hawthorne Heights
Small Planet

Anne Erickson | NOISE

To say that Hawthorne Heights has been through a lot is an understatement. It was the winter of 2007 - just as the guys were getting popular with the post-hardcore/emo scene - when the group suffered the sudden death of its guitarist, Casey Calvert. Shocked and overcome with grief, the band took some much-needed time off and, for a while, nobody was sure if Hawthorne Heights would be back.

But in 2008, the guys forged ahead with their Victory Records release, the aptly-titled "Fragile Future." The disc was no doubt an outlet to air some of the heartache and grieving from losing their good friend and bandmate. Now, the Dayton, Ohio, boys are back on the road and have a new album, "Skeletons," in the works for 2010. They hit Small Planet on Tuesday.
