Welcome to NOISE’s annual City Guide issue - now online and searchable.
Inside, you’ll find 345 restaurants, bars, hangouts, stores, businesses and more throughout the Lansing area that have landed on our radar and grabbed our attention. You'll find links at the right that'll take you through the different categories. Once you pull up a search window, if you don't find something you like, you'll see a search widget in the upper right corner that'll allow you to search by city or by category.
So what’s new this year? Well, other than the dozens of new spots we’ve added, we’ve also expanded a bit farther out from Lansing and included places in Williamston, Mason, Eaton Rapids and Charlotte. We’ve also broken out lists of area thrift shops, bike stores and tattoo shops so if that’s something that interests you, you can find it easily.
Now, a few caveats. While the Guide is extensive, there are a few places that may have slipped under our radar or were too new for us to check out. If there’s something we should add for next year, tell me at bfisher@lansingnoise.com. And for those profiled, we hope we got all the details right about your place. If we didn’t, please call me at 702-4238 and we’ll let people know in print and online.
Speaking of online, you can still search through the City Guide online at lansingnoise.com/cityguide or via the City Guide widget at lansingnoise.com. There, you’ll find be able to search through cities and categories at your convenience to find places that you’re interested in checking out.
iPod instructions
The City Guide can now be downloaded to your iPod. Here's how:
1. Get the zip file at the right and unzip it (double-clicking should do the trick). This will create a file on your Desktop called "NOISE City Guide 2008."
2. Connect your iPod to your computer. On a Windows machine, it should appear in "My Computer." On a Mac, it should appear on your desktop.
3. Open the iPod drive, open the "Notes" folder and drag the "NOISE City Guide 2008" folder into the "Notes" folder.
4. To view it, dismount and disconnect your iPod. Go to the main menu, then select "Extras," then "Notes," then "NOISE City Guide." It might take a short while to load, but this should only happen the first time or when you install a new update. Navigate through the information by using the scroll wheel and buttons.
We hope you enjoy this year’s City Guide as much as we do. And make sure to pick up NOISE for free on Wednesdays to find out everything that’s cool to do in Lansing. Thanks.
